In our series of CRaHFT Ranking 2012, we are excited to announce "CrescentRating's Halal Friendly Travel (CRaHFT) Ranking 2012" of the Top 10 Halal Friendly Airports (OIC Countries) in 2012.
Traveling through airports in OIC countries is actually much easier for Muslim travelers; not only do they have all of the facilities we usually find at an airport, but can also take comfort in the fact that the airports will almost always have certain necessities such as Halal food availability and a prayer room. The 10 airports listed below were chosen as the Top 10 Halal Friendly Airports in OIC Countries for 2012 because they go a little beyond the norm; some have full-sized mosques while others have extensive selection of Halal Food.
One of South Asia's key aviation hubs, the Kuala Lumpur International Airport is a unique airport offering excellent facilities for the travelers passing through there.
There are three dedicated Muslim prayer rooms in the airport with ablution facilities and a separate silent room is available as well. Departing travelers might want to indulge in one of the culinary concoctions of Malaysia at one of the many Halal certified dining outlets.
2. Dubai International Airport, United Arab Emirates
The Dubai International Airport provides many services to its travelers including a hotel, a business center, a health club, and separate lounges for women and children. Free wifi access is available throughout the airport and passengers can spend hours shopping.Separate prayer rooms are available for ladies and men which include built-in wudhu facilities. Friday Jumu'ah Salaat prayers are conducted in the airport as well. The airport has a food court which is sure to satisfy any palette and houses dining options from fast food to fine dining!
3. Istanbul International Airport Ataturk, Turkey
According to total passenger traffic, the Istanbul International Airport is the 16th busiest airport in the world, therefore the airport is in constant improvement to develop the facilities they offer.From dining and shopping to business and finance, the passengers at the Istanbul Airport are sure to find it all! Prayer rooms and Halal dining options are available at various points in the airport.
4. King Abdulaziz International Airport, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The King Abdulaziz Airport is the first international airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Occupying an area of 15 square kilometers, the airport includes a Royal Terminal, separate facilities for the Royal Saudi Air Force, and one of its main features, a Hajj Terminal.The Hajj Terminal was built specifically for the purpose of handling the many foreign pilgrims who travel during the annual Hajj. This terminal is one of the largest in the world, at around five million square feet, it houses a mosque and can accommodate up to 80,000 passengers simultaneously.
5. Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Indonesia
Named after Indonesia's first president, the Jakarta Soekarna-Hatta International Airport caters well to the needs of a Muslim traveler. Beyond the basic facilities usually found at airports, the Jakarta International Airport houses a number of Muslim prayer rooms that cater to both male and female worshippers.The prayer rooms can be found easily as they are marked in the major terminal area and ablution facilities are available right next to the prayer rooms. Being a Muslim country, it is "assumed" most food is Halal; as such not many food outlets are certified Halal by the local certifying authority. However, it is advisable to take care when choosing a place to eat.
6. King Khaled International Airport, Saudi Arabia
The mosque located within the King Khaled International Airport is the most distinguished landmark to passengers traveling through this Saudi airport. The mosque can accommodate almost 5,000 worshippers inside and another 5,000 worshippers in the plaza outside.
7. Abu Dhabi International Airport, United Arab Emirates
The Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the world. The airport houses eight world-class lounges, an airport hotel, a spa, various business services and other conventional airport facilities.
There are clearly-marked, segregated men's and women's prayer rooms in each terminal and all of the prayer rooms are wheel-chair accessible.
8. Cairo International Airport, Egypt
Choose from a wide variety of hotels, tourism agents, restaurants, banks, transportation services, business services and duty free shops to make your stay at the Cairo International Airport all that you want it to be. From relaxation rooms to five star hotels, transiting at the Cairo International Airport will be so much easier.

9. Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Pakistan
The Benazir Bhutto International Airport is a civil and military airport and is named after the late Pakistani leader. The airport offers many facilities to passengers such as a hotel, a convention center, duty-free shops, a business center, a food court and many other entertainment divisions. All food served is considered Halal and well marked prayer facility is available.
10. Beirut-Rafic Hariri Airport, Lebanon
The airport also has three lounges and various transport facilities. The dedicated Muslim prayer room is filled with copies of the Quran and clearly marks the direction of the Qiblah and the airport is committed to providing all of the facilities necessary for a Muslim traveler.
The Reader Ranking, which was compiled according to the voting from the Crescentrating community, listed the Top 10 Halal Friendly Airports in OIC Countries as follows:

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Malaysia), 2.Dubai International Airport (UAE), 3.Jinnah International Airport (Pakistan), 4.Doha International Airport (Qatar), 5.King Abdul Aziz International Airport (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), 6.Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Indonesia), 7.Bahrain International Airport (Bahrain), 8.Beirut-Rafik Hariri Airport (Lebanon), 9.Mohamed V International Airport (Morocco), and 10.Cairo International Airport (Egypt).
