Self-Assessment

Do the short self-assessment first, if you would like to see where your establishment stands before you apply.

Answer a short set of questions about what your property already offers. In about two minutes you will see the level the CrescentRating Standards indicate, and the specific requirements standing between you and the next one.

  • No account, no email address, no obligation
  • Scored against the current published standard
  • Every gap named, and what each one takes

    Assess

Answer what applies to your property. The questions adapt, so you are only asked what can still change the result.

  2. 02

    Understand

See the indicative level, and the requirements between you and the next one — sorted by how much work each represents.

  3. 03

    Accredit

Bring the result to our team, or begin a formal application. That is where this page picks the process back up.

The result is indicative and based on unverified self-declared information. It is not a Crescent Rating. A Crescent Rating is issued only after formal assessment by CrescentRating, which may include an audit.

Why get Crescent Rated

Recognition a traveler can act on, and a specification you can build to.

01

Verified, not claimed

Your provision is assessed by a third party against a published standard. Travelers, booking platforms and corporate buyers get an answer they can act on, rather than a marketing claim they have to take on trust.

02

Found by travelers already searching

A Crescent Rating lists your establishment in the CrescentRating member directory and puts it in front of the HalalTrip audience — demand that begins its search with the rating rather than with your brand name.

03

A specification, not a score

The assessment returns the requirements you meet and the ones you do not, named individually. Spend on facilities, training and F&B can then be argued for on evidence instead of on instinct.

04

One benchmark across a portfolio

The same standard applies in every market, so a group can compare properties across its estate on a like-for-like basis and set a floor that new openings are held to.

Questions

Before you apply.

Anything not answered here, ask the rating team.

How do we apply for a Crescent Rating?

Create an account with CrescentRating and submit the application for your category online. We then audit the establishment and accredit it at the level the standard supports.

How long does accreditation take?

Two things set the pace, and you control both: how completely the application and its supporting documentation arrive, and how soon the audit can be scheduled at the establishment. We will give you an indicative timeline for your category and market when you enquire.

What does it cost?

Rating is an annual service fee rather than a one-off charge, and it varies by establishment type, size and market. The annual fees are given on each of the category pages.

What do we get for it?

An independent assessment against a published standard, the rating collaterals to display on site and in your own channels, a listing in the CrescentRating member directory, and a named list of the requirements you have yet to meet. Based on the subscription, it may also include promotion through HalalTrip.

Which types of establishment can be rated?

Twenty-three, in the seven families the CrescentRating standards are organized into: where a traveler stays, how they travel, where they pass through, where they eat, where they go, care and wellbeing, and the guides, packages and agents who serve them.

How long is a rating valid?

The rating is maintained on an annual cycle: it holds while the service is current and the establishment continues to meet the requirements it was assessed against.

Can we move up a level before renewal?

Yes. Once you have closed the requirements holding your level down, ask the rating team for a reassessment rather than waiting for the renewal date. The self-assessment is a useful way to check whether the gap is genuinely closed first.

How does renewal work?

Renewal runs annually. You confirm what has changed at the establishment, and we reassess against the standard current at that point — which may have moved, since the standards are revised as the market does.

How do we get in touch?

Use the contact form and tell us the establishment type and the market. Enquiries about portfolios, national tourism boards and multi-property programs go to the same place.

Ready to get Crescent Rated?

Start with the two-minute self-assessment to see where you stand, or talk to the rating team about accrediting a property, a portfolio or a destination.
