Kenya's Lamu County Government targets Gulf region tourists

With a focus on the Arabian travel market as a growth strategy, the Lamu County Government in Kenya is targeting high-spending Middle Eastern holidaymakers in a bid to to boost its tourism fortunes. The region hopes to work with the national government promote its Islamic heritage as well as its other attractions to vacationers from wealthy Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Araia, Oman and Iran. By promoting the archipelago as a Muslim-friendly destination, Lamu hopes to attract large numbers of Middle Eastern holidaymakers who often spend lavishly while traveling with family members.
