Gateway to the world-renowned ski resorts, national parks and exciting recreational areas of Utah, Salt Lake City is one an amazing destination. Skiers flock to the city every year to enjoy the best skiing facilities. Located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains, the city sprawls extends till the shores of the Great Salt Lake.

The city is full of surprises; Salt Lake City combines the facilities of a big metropolitan area along with year around activities and recreation. The Utah State Capitol Building is the center for the state government and an impressive building. The Governor's Mansion is another beautiful building worth seeing. The Beehive House is a national historic monument to visit.

Visitors with varied interests should explore the Utah Museum of Natural History, Classic Cars International Antique Autos, Pioneer Memorial Museum, Fort Douglas Military Museum and the Utah State Historical Society. Visitors travelling with kids can have a wonderful time at the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum.

Salt Lake City boasts of exclusive recreation for children. The Clark Planetarium is a huge domed theater that hosts star and laser shows. The Utah's Hogle Zoo has animals from all around the world and the Tracy Aviary has over 130 species of birds.

Close to the Clark Planetarium is the Downtown's Gateway a partial open air shopping center. The ZCMI Shopping Mall located in downtown is also an excellent place to shop. The Crossroads Plaza Mall, Cottonwood Mall, Historic Trolley Square and Fashion Place Mall are other renowned destinations to shop.

Excellent ski resorts are within minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. Every year during the winters the weather and conditions are excellent for visitors to enjoy a great skiing action. There are also several parks in the city that travellers would love to visit. Some of these parks include Liberty Park, Red Butte Garden, Memory Grove Park, International Peace Garden at Jordan Park and Sugarhouse Park.
