The Magnificent Castles of UK
The castles of UK are magnificent architectural pieces of art that are usually recognized to be built of stone during the Medieval Period. However, the history of the castles dates back to the Neolithic times. Every period has its own classification of castles but the first proper castles were introduced by the Normans. The Medieval castles were built from 1066 till the beginning of the Tudor period in 1485. Castles were more than just fortresses; the hall was the main highlight and the venue for banquets. Most castles also feature a well but no particular reason has been attributed to this fact other than an ease in obtaining water. Today these castles serve as excellent travel destinations and carry a lot of information about the past.
Buckingham Palace
One of the most majestic buildings in the world, Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British monarch in London. The palace is also used to entertain guests on state, ceremonial and official occasions. The Buckingham Palace is located in the city of Westminster between Green Park, Hyde Park and St. James's Park.
One of the most famous landmarks of Northern Ireland, the Giant's Causeway is a beautiful work of nature formed around 50-60 million years ago. The area consists of neatly packed basalt columns that were created millions of years ago by a flow of basaltic lava. As the lava cooled these hexagonal shaped were formed. The tallest of the column rises to about 12 feet and is 28 meters in thickness.
