The Singapore Religious Council better known as MUIS (Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura) is the sole authority in Singapore which can certify restaurants, manufacturing facilities, food outlets etc as Halal. MUIS is a statutory board setup to advise the President of Singapore on all matters relating to Islam in Singapore.

Colombo, Sri Lanka : According to a recent communique by All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulema (ACJU), the Halal certification body in Sri Lanka, Barista Coffee Lanka Pvt Ltd is no longer certified Halal by ACJU. Read the full text of the ACJU announcement below:

"NOTICE

Barista Coffee Lanka Pvt Ltd have informed us that due to a business decision made to close their central kitchen and outsource food products from establishments that do not hold an ACJU halaal certificate, they are unable to meet ACJU requirements, as such, we have mutually decided to discontinue from the ACJU Halaal certification program.

ACJU announces that as of 3rd of Dec 2009 all Barista outlets are no longer certified halaal"

In Singapore, Malaysia and few other countries, some eateries put up signs which says "No Pork, No Lard". The intent seems to be to attract Muslim customers assuring them that No Pork or and No Lard is used in food items of the establishment.
