Somalia is known for all the wrong reasons now and not a place to consider for your next holiday! However, when Ibn Batutta visited Somalia sometime in 1330, some of its' cities like Mogadishu and Zeila were some of the most thriving cities in Africa.
Somalia is located in the easternmost part of Africa. It shares borders with Djibouti, Kenya, the Gulf of Aden with Yemen, the Indian Ocean and Ethiopia. Somalia has a land area of 637,540 square kilometers and the longest coastline on the continent.
A population of close to 10 Million. Muslims account for about 99% of the population.
Tropical climate. Temperature ranges between 24° C to 31° C in the low areas while the plateau region is cooler. March to May is a heavy rainfall season in Somalia.
Somali and Arabic are the two official languages. English and Italian are widely used as well.
