The Andes in Peru is home to some of the most spectacular peaks in the world. These mountains have granite peaks rising above the snow-covered ridges and glaciers. An ancient city located in the Air region in northern Niger, Agadez was founded in the 11th century. During the historic times, the city served as a major stopover for caravans crossing the Sahara Desert. The city today is the gateway to the spectacular desert and offers visitors with a lot of opportunities of enjoyment.

The most prominent masjid in the city is the Great Mosque of Agadez. It is visible from all parts of the city and can easily be reached. This masjid was originally built in the 16th century and was refurbished in the 19th century. There are a few restaurants in the city but their halal authenticity is not confirmed. It is important for visitors to confirm before dining in these restaurants.

The Grand Mosque is the main attraction of the city and is made out of mud-brick. It is said that the minaret of this masjid is among the highest mud-brick minarets in Africa. The Sultan's Palace is also good to visit. The palace is three-storeyed and visitors need a permit to visit it. The old town area consists of narrow alleys running around single storeyed houses. The residents of the city are friendly and help visitors whenever required.

There are several shops across the city selling locally handcrafted jewellery and souvenirs. You can get some good options in the street outside the masjid. The best things to buy include leather and silver items.

The city is small and most of the attractions are within walking distance of each other. If you want to set out on a trip in the Sahara, then rentals are easily available. It is important to hire a guide.

In the guestrooms, a Quran sits on the bedside table, and garments for men and women to wear while praying are neatly folded on the bed. In the bathrooms, a dedicated ablution tap is provided for guests to perform the ritual cleansing that Muslims must complete before praying.
