Spanning in the north-east end of Pakistan is the region of Baltistan. Baltistan is known to be among the most beautiful destinations in Pakistan. The region features the most magnificent mountain scenery and possibilities of mountain climbing, trekking and hiking. Baltistan is also home to the largest glaciers and the place where three largest mountain ranges meet, namely the Karakorams, the Hindukush and the Himalayas.

Finding Masaajid in Baltistan is pretty easy. All the towns and cities in the region have Masaajid. The main city of the region Skardu has the Amburiq Masjid. Khaplu has a number of historic Masaajid that you can visit while in Baltistan.

There are numerous glacial lakes in the region of Baltistan. The region of Baltistan is divided into five valleys namely Shigar, Khaplu, Rondu, Skardu and Kharmang. All the valleys are rich in the production of fruits. The historic settlements, palaces, forts and valleys are lovely for anyone to explore. The Deosai Plateau is one of the most beautiful places for travelers to visit.

The Shigar Valley is the gateway to the Karakorams, Gasherbrum and the K-2. The Sadpara Lake about 5 miles from Skardu is a beautiful lake with crystal clear waters and is surrounded by glacial peaks. The Shangrila Lake also known as the Kachura Lake is another exotic destination that is especially worth visiting during the spring season when flowers bloom along the banks of the lakes. You can also enjoy fishing at these lakes. The Khaplu Valley of the Shyok River is the starting point for almost all the treks in Baltistan. Do not miss out visiting the historic sites in the city of Khaplu.

The entire region of Baltistan is renowned for hand woven woolen cloth for coats and jackets; known as Pattu. You can also buy the traditional Baltistani gowns known as Chugas. The cities in Baltistan have some good shopping centers and markets where you can enjoy shopping. The New Bazaar in Skardu is particularly good for shopping.

Finding halal food around the Baltistan region is quite easy. Whether you are looking for traditional food or any type of cuisine, there are numerous restaurants in the region where you can find Chinese, continental and other types of cuisines.

The towns in Baltistan are good to walk around. Visitors can however also take a car rental and explore the entire area. Getting taxis is also pretty easy in all the main cities of Baltistan.
