A small Himalayan country, Nepal is where visitors can experience exciting treks, hikes and stunning vistas of nature

The country is visited by several visitors every year and the locals welcome them with traditional hospitality and warmth. From the leafy Annapurna to the illustrious Everest there are several opportunities for novice and experienced hikers to try their skills. Nepal boasts of being home to eight of the ten highest peaks in the world including Mount Everest.

Nepal is frequented by trekkers all around the year. Annapurna and Everest regions are the best and the most visited trekking areas of Nepal. There are several opportunities for river rafting in the country. Some of the major rivers for rafting in Nepal are BhoteKoshi, Sun Koshi, Karnali, Kali Gandaki and Trisuli. The Chitwan National Park is located in the heart of Nepal and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy nature walks, elephant rides, bird watching and also rhino viewing.Bardiya and Sagarmathaaree the other frequented parks.


Kathmandu is the vibrant capital of Nepal. The Narayanhiti Palace Museum is a Royal Palace and partly a museum. The main halls of the palace are open for visitors for viewing. Close to the palace lies the walled Garden of Dreams a tranquil place for visitors to unwind.

Pokhra is a striking city overlooked by the Annapurna Mountains. There are a number of lakes in and around Pokhra. Some of these lovely lakes are the Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake, Dipand Lake and Rupa Lake; out of these the most visited in the Phewa Lake. The Devi Falls is a mysterious fall that falls in a cave and disappears into the earth. Caves around Pokhra are also worth visiting. Bhaktapur is another beautiful town popular for its pottery.Nagarkotabout 18Km from Bhaktapur is a great place to enjoy panoramic views of sunset and sunrise. Patan is also a beautiful city to visit; the palace and the museum in the Durbar Square are the main sites to visit in the city.

Nepal is an affordable shopping destination. Colorful stalls attract the attention of travelers. Look for local handicrafts, woolen carpets, paper products, clothes and jewelry. Kathmandu is the focal point of Nepal shopping; Thamel, Lazimpat, Asan and New Road are some good places to shop. Pokhra also has some good shopping facilities.


Muslims form the third largest religion in the country after Hinduism and Buddhism. Downtown Kathmandu has a large Jama Masjid. There are quite a number of other masaajid in areas like Thamel and Baneshwar. There are a few Halal restaurants in Nepal; visitors can enquire at the masjid. The area of Bagbazar in Kathmandu is a Muslim dominated area and visitors can find quite a number of Halal food outlets in the area. Nepal is well-connected by buses. There are a number of buses including micro buses, super express buses and tourist buses which are a popular means of traveling in Nepal. Inside the cities taxis, rickshaws and tempos are a preferred choice.
