The trail of Mount Roraima started from Paratepuiabout 22Km away from San Francisco de Yurani. The most popular route to hike the Mount Roraima is the Paratepui Route. The route crosses the Gran Sabana and there are several river crossings that are supposed to be crossed on foot as no brides are available.

The base of Mount Roraima is reached in about 1-1 ½ days and the route further and back to the peak of the mountain takes about 4 days. The routes from the Brazilian and Guiana sides are usually not preferred as they are quite dangerous. It is better to take a guide along if you wish to camp at the mountain top.

Best Months and Weather Conditions At Mount Roraima

The best time to climb the Mount Roraima is the dry season from December to March. At this time the river crossings are doable as compared to the other seasons when the rivers are quite rough. There are a few camping sites along the route and camping is available on the mountain top, however the climatic conditions can be quite wet even during the dry season. It is recommended that you take a waterproof tent and a rain suit.

There are no halal facilities along the route or around the towns surrounding the peak. The closest Halal facility can be found in Caracas.
