Known for its exquisiteness and extravagance, Hamburg is possibly one of the most entertaining cities in Germany

From world-class museums and art galleries to excellent restaurants and a great shopping experience, the city offers numerous opportunities of enjoyment. The second-largest city of Germany, Hamburg is located on the banks of River Elbe. It is a city-state and enjoys being an independent state. Hamburg has been an international city not only because of its position in trade but also because of its political magnitude.

The population of Muslims is diverse in Hamburg. Finding a Masjid in the city is not very difficult. If you are unable to locate one, you can easily the locals about a Masjid. The Central Masjid of Hamburg is the primary Masjid in the city. The Fazle Omar Masjid is the first Masjid built in Germany after World War II.

Hamburg is a port city and its harbour district is the main commercial area of the city. The harbour is one of the main attractions of the city and home to the newest landmark, the Kohlbrand Bridge. The warehouses in the area are now home to some of the most popular museums. The Hamburg Dungeon is especially worth a visit; this museum details the past of the city. Hamburg is home to over 50 museums among which the notable ones include the Kunsthalle museum of art and the Bucerius Art Forum.

Hamburg is also known as the green city of Germany. It is home to over 1400 parks and gardens. The Hagenbeck Zoo too is well worth a visit. The best parks of the city can be found around the Alster Lake. The city also features several small beaches towards the North of the Elbe River. You can easily reach the beaches by taking a harbour ferry bus. If you want to explore the waterways of Hamburg, then the best way is to take a boat ride. Hamburg is a city of contrasts.

Shopping in Hamburg is quite an extravagant deal. The Europa Passage is the main shopping mall in the city and also the largest mall in Europe. The historic city centre too is a great place to shop. You can find some wonderful shops in the historic city centre. The primary shopping area in the city is the Monckebergerstrasse. For extravangant shopping visit the Jungfernstieg and Neuer Wall. The stores in this area house exclusive names in fashion, jewellery and furnishings.

Finding halal restaurants in Hamburg is also quite easy. Usually the halal restaurants carry a certification from the Islamic Centre Hamburg. A number of these halal restaurants offer Turkish cuisine. If you are unable to find a halal diner, you can always ask at the Masjid about it. Try out the different types of breads that are available in the city. Falafel sandwiches too are available in the city at some outlets.

Hamburg presents a comprehensive public transport system with buses running round the clock. Taxis too operate all around the day. The commuter rail or the S-Bahn and the subways or the U-Bahn are also a great means of travelling around the city.
