The most cosmopolitan city of France and the fashion capital of the world, Paris is a dream destination for any traveler. A leading global city, Paris is home to several iconic landmarks and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Paris is a large city divided into 20 districts and every district has its own character. Paris started as a small settlement on an island in the River Seine and gradually spread throughout its surroundings.

The Eiffel Tower is the most popular attraction in Paris and people from all over the world flock to see this amazing monument. The Arc de Triomphe is a grand monument that dominates the Avenue of the Champs-Elysées. The Arènes de Lutece is an ancient amphitheater. The Assemblée Nationale is the seat of the French Parliament. The Château de Versailles is a grand historic castle and a popular monument in the city. The Conciergerie is a fabulous Gothic piece of architecture for travelers to visit. The Royal Palace and its garden need a special mention. Though the palace was never the home of the kings it was home to the Queen Mother of Austria.

The Louvre is one of the finest museums in the entire world. The museum houses an Islamic art gallery. Other notable museums in the city include Picasso Museum, Le Musée de l'AP-HP, Centre Georges Pompidou, Delacroix, Les Invalides, Musée National de la Marine and the Musée en Herbe.

A trip to Paris is incomplete without a visit to Disneyland, especially if you are traveling with kids. The Zoological Park in the 12th quarter is also a lovely place especially because of the 236 foot artificial mountain. Paris is a city of culture and hosts a number of theater performances all around the year.

Paris is one of the best shopping destinations in the world. Throughout the city there are several shops and boutiques where travelers can find exclusive clothing and souvenirs. Enjoy some high-end shopping at the 8th arrondisement (district) of the city. Vintage clothing can be found round the Quartier Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Some excellent deals can be found in quarters 1 and 4. Other areas good for shopping include Champs-Elysées, Rue Saint-Honoré and Place Vendôme, The Marais and Montmarte.

The Grande Mosquée de Paris located in the 5th district is the main masjid in the city. Apart from this there are several masaajid in the city. Paris has a number of Halal restaurants serving a range of cuisines from across the world. Visitors can especially look forward to relish Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian cuisine.

The best way to see Paris is on foot. Visitors can also opt for the Metro service. There are boat services that take visitors across the city on the River Seine. Buses are also a feasible option for moving in the city.
