The area encompasses river valleys, small brooks and rapids and pine forests. The highlight of the park is the Karhunkierros Hiking Trail that spans across 80Km and takes 3-4 days to traverse. Travellers can start their hike at the Hautajarvi Visitor Centre or the Ristikallio parking area. The path leads to the Ruka village about 25Km from Kuusamo.
The park is best visited during the winter months and the summers when the park is visited by different species of birds. The Oulanka National Park is located in the Kuusamo and Salla municipalities and extends till the Russian border. Oulanka combines the best of the northern, southern and eastern nature and the weather is excellent to enjoy lots of fun filled activities.
There are no halal facilities available near the Oulanka National Park. But you can carry your own supplies. There are areas to rest across the hiking trails and the entire park area. You can get more information about the Oulanka National Park at the visitor centre.
