A metropolitan borough of the Greater Manchester area, Salford is a city with a promising future. The city has a beautiful waterfront and a wonderful countryside environment for visitors to have a great time. The city is located along the River Irwell and borders the city of Manchester. Salford is quite diverse and has an urban city center.

With the River Irwell running through the city there are a number of canals and a quay network that have recently been redeveloped. The quays of Salford house interesting architecture and also an outlet mall. The Lowry has a large collection of LS Lowry's work as well as galleries, theatres and designer shopping.

The city is one of the earliest industrial cities and boasts of a number of historic achievements. Salford is home to the first free public library of the world. The Ordsall Hall is a historic house over 750 years old and is home to the local history museum. The bridge over the River Irwell is another historic site in the city.

A major part of Salford is made of green spaces, nature parks and parklands. The city has only orange canal in UK, wetland, several ponds and a fishing lake.
