One of the most interesting places to visit in the world, London is a cosmopolitan city inviting visitors and immigrants from across the world with open arms. The capital of England, London is also the largest metropolitan in the United Kingdom. Full of colors and offering a vibrant ambiance, London is a treasure box for travelers to unveil.

The existence of the city dates back to when it was founded by the Romans, who then called it Londinium. The ancient section of the city still protects a square mile of its medieval touch. Today, London is one of the leading cities of the world, with a strong economic, cultural, entertainment and educational background. London is a huge city with several districts and boroughs.

From wonderful museums to historic monuments and lovely parks, London has something for everyone. The original fortress of London, the Tower of London which is now a World Heritage Site, stands by the Thames and is over 900 years old. The fortress houses the Crown Jewels and is an interesting place to visit. The Tower Bridge next to the Tower of London is adorned with high towers.

The Marble Arch in Mayfair is a majestic marble monument. The London Eye on the banks of the Thames is the third largest observation wheel in the world. Most of the iconic buildings such as Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey are located in the Westminster borough of London.

London is home to world-class museums and art galleries. The British Museum is a unique museum with an Islamic World section. The Victoria and Albert Museum has an entire gallery dedicated to Islamic art and has over 10,000 Islamic artifacts. The Natural History Museum is also an interesting place to visit. London has a considerable number of parks and green spaces. Holidaymakers can enjoy skating on ice rinks at several locations in the city.

Greenwich a popular district of London is home to some of the best attractions of the city. Some of the most visited attractions in this district include Eltham Palace, Greenwich Park, National Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory and The Cutty Sark.

London as a wonderful place to spend a vacation and is also a great destination to enjoy shopping. Most of the popular shopping areas of London are located in the West End like Oxford Street, Bond Street, Regent Street, etc. Famous shopping centers include Selfridges, Liberty, John Lewis, Hamleys, Burberry and Harrods.

London has a number of masaajid and locating one is never a problem. The London Central Masjid, in the borough of Westminster, is the principal masjid of the area. The East London Mosque & London Muslim Centre is another main masjid in the borough of Tower Hamlets.

Halal restaurants are located across the city. Visitors can find a range of Halal cuisines including authentic British, American, Lebanese, South Asian, Mexican, Moroccan and Chinese food. There are several restaurants that serve a full Halal menu. Some of the Halal certified restaurants include Al Hamra in Mayfair, Beiteddine in Knightsbridge, Al Waha in Notting Hill, Byblos Harbour in East London, Fakhreldine in Piccadilly and Sahara Grill in Ilford and Leyton.

London boasts of a wonderful public transport system, and is known as the best in the world. Central London is easily accessible by the tube and docklands light railway. Commuter boats are also an excellent means of transport and enjoyment. The suburban parts of the city can be accessed by tram, National Rail and Overground. There are several travel cards available in the city that can make travelling affordable and easy in the city. Taxis and car rentals are also easily available. Visitors can find travel desks and centers across the city for information on attractions and sightseeing.
