There are close to 70 Masaajid in Singapore and all of them will conduct Taraweeh Salaath. In addition, there will be many more housing estates (HDBs) which also allocate space for Taraweeh. So finding a place for Salaath is not at all a problem. All of them will have facilities for females as well. In some places, they will conduct 20+3 Raka'aths throughout the month. Some places will conduct 8+3 on some days (generally weekdays) and 20+3 on some days (generally weekends). Some Masaajid will complete the recital of the whole Qur'an in Taraweeh salaath.
Most of the places will also have lectures after Salaath. However, generally they will be in Malay. Some of the Masaajid may have some programs in Tamil or English as well. Most of the Masaajid will also conduct Qiyam-ul-lail programs on certain days. In most Masaajid there will be people doing I'thikaaf during the last 10 days. If you wish to join, you may be able do so by informing the Masjid authorities. Closer to Ramadhan the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) website (www.muis.gov.sg) will give all the information about the places, programs etc of the Masaajid.
All the Masaajid will also have Iftar arrangements. Generally with porridge (congee or known in Malay as Bubur). Each Masjid will have its own flavor! The Masaajid will also distribute Bubur from around Asar onwards. Anyone can just go and collect a bowl/bag(s) free. If you wish to sponsor a days distribution, then you need to inform the Masjid early. Generally, all the sponsoring slots are taken up well before the beginning of Ramadhan! Some Masaajid will also have Sahour arrangements just before Fajr Salaath.
If you wish to break fast elsewhere, then you could try the two places which are turned into "Ramadahn Bazaars" during the month. One is the Khandahar street just by the side of Masjid Sultan. The whole street will be turned into a street of food vendors and gets busy from 3pm onwards. You will be spoilt for choice here.
The other place is the Gelang Serai area. This whole place turns into a big open market selling everything from Food to clothing. The streets around also gets specially lit up during the month. It really comes to life from Asar onwards. It not only attracts the Muslims, but locals from all races and religions as well as a tourist who would not want to miss the great variety of food out there. On the eve of Eid you may also able get some great bargains! If you are a visitor to Singapore during Ramadhan, this is a place not to missed.
All of the Crescentrated Hotels in Singapore, will provide special Ramadhan facilities. They will have special buffets for Iftar and will be able to provide Sahour on request.
