Introduction to Timore-Leste

A former Portuguese colony, East Timor is now called as Timor-Leste. The country has a strong influence of Portuguese culture and architecture. Timor-Leste was declared as an independent state in the year 2002. The best time to visit this fabulous destination is between June and October when the weather is dry and it is easy to visit the remote areas of the country.

Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste has some sites well worth a visit. The remains of the colonial buildings give visitors an idea about how the city was during the Portugese rule. The Arte Moris has a collection of all the good things of Dili. The XananaGusmao Reading Room is a museum, cultural center and also a library. The waterfront of Dili is quite lively and the best place to have fun in the city. Visitors can also see fabulous sunrise from the Ramalau Mountain, which is the highest point in Timor-Leste.
