Krabi overview
Written by CrescentratingSituated on the west coast of Southern Thailand is the lovely town of Krabi. The town is the capital of the Krabi Province and Krabi District and is located at the mouth of the Krabi River flowing into the Andaman Sea. The beautiful beaches and natural scenery make the main appeal of the area.
Krabi has a number of Masaajid and the Muslim community in the area is mainly centered along the coastal of Ao Nang and Ao Nam Mao. The main Masjid in Krabi is the Ao Nang Masjid.
Krabi has a sizeable Muslim population; hence finding Halal food is not a problem for visitors. Some Halal restaurants in the area carry a certification and travelers can relish some delicious local food in the area.
The presence of limestone karsts in the town and in the glittering emerald water looks stunningly beautiful. The Ao Nang Beach is the main travel area where visitors can find shops, restaurants and hotels. The other beach is the Noppara Thara about 5 minutes away from Ao Nang. Visitors or couples looking for some privacy can enjoy time at the Klong Muang Beach. A few minutes from Klong Muang is the Tubkaak Beach, which is still developing and has a few resorts. This beach offers excellent views of Koh Hong an exotic island known for hidden caves and clear waters.
About 15 minutes by boat from Krabi is the beautiful Railay Bay. The best stopover beach here is the Phang Nga Cave Beach that has several resorts and is bounded by, limestone cliffs. Travelers can enjoy time on the white sands and clear waters. The beach is packed with families and adventurous rock climbers. Travelers enjoy swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and other water sports around Krabi.
The main landmarks of Krabi are the towering peaks of Khao Khanap Nam close to the Krabi Town. Travel 90 minutes towards the outskirts of Krabi and travelers can reach a natural hot spring in the rain forest. There are well-paved paths leading to the spring. About an hour from the hot spring is the Emerald Pond. Another attraction is the Fossil Shell Beach.
Other destinations to visit are the Hat Noppharat Thara, Ko Phi Phi National Park, Ko Lanta National Park, Than Bokkharani National Park, Wat Khlong Thom Museum and several other smaller islands around the area.
Most of the shops in Krabi are located along the Ao Nang Beach. Travelrs can buy souvenirs and clothes in the area.
