Introduction to Russia

Russia Russia is considered to be the largest country in the world and has a varied topography. The extensive coastline of Russia attracts a number of travellers every year. The country also has several rivers and inland water bodies including the Lake Baikal, the oldest and purest fresh water lake in the world.

Islam was introduced in some parts of present day Russia as early as the 8th century. According to the Pew research Center report, there are 16 Million Muslims now constituting close to 12% of the Russian Population. Kazan which is the capital city of Tartarstan has the one of the biggest communities of Muslims in Russia. The Russian Islam University is also located in Kazan. There are many mosques in that part of Russia.
