A small country tucked between Romania and Ukraine, Moldova is a multi-ethnic country with beautiful lakes, villages and lush valleys. Visitors to Moldova will find the people the people there quite friendly and very welcoming.

Located on the banks of the River Byk, the capital Chisinau is one of the most flourishing cities in Moldova. Chisinau has several parks where visitors can enjoy a serene time. The Rose Valley is a huge park encompassing three lakes and a number of restaurants. The Botanical Garden is the largest park in the city and also one of the most beautiful places to visit. The Parcul Dendrariu is another beautiful park with forest area, lake and a wonderful garden; Riscani Park and Parcul Valea Morilor are also good to visit. The Chisinau Museum of History has a number of interesting artifacts. Visitors can also enjoy a swim in the Chisinau Lake and also have fun at the beaches surrounding the lake. The "family-friendliness" of these beaches are yet to be determined so it is advised to gather information from the locals before planning a day there.

The city of Balti is a good destination to visit and the old part of the city is worth seeing. The town of Cahul is good for relaxing; there are numerous thermal spas in the town that offer a variety of treatments. Bender is an ancient town in Moldova famous for its 17th century fortress. The city of Tiraspol has several museums that attract the attention of visitors. The city of Soroca is a must visit especially for its fortifications that extend till Ukraine.

The forests of Chisinau are a magnetic attraction to adventurous explorers. Visitors can see indigenous flora and fauna of the country. The Stanca-Jeloboc Forest is especially a good place to visit and enjoy the natural beauty of the country.

Handmade carpets, vibrant colored clothes, enamel painting and woodcarving are some popular local goods that visitors can buy in Moldova. The Chisinau Souvenir Bazaar is the main market for shopping for souvenirs. In the city center of Chisinau is a modern shopping center, the Unic. Mall Dova, which is a chic shopping mall filled with fun items to purchase. Calea Mosilor is about 10 minutes from the Chisinau City Center is an open-air market selling popular local products at competitive rates.

Muslims are a minority in Moldova and Islam was recently recognized as an official religion in the country. There is no official Masjid in the country, but there is a prayer room in Chisinau where locals gather for prayers. Finding Halal restaurants can be difficult; however, visitors can enquire at the prayer room. Moldova has several pizza outlets and fast food joints that are Muslim-owned and Halal-assured. Once again, it is best to inquire from the locals as to where Halal restaurants can be found and Halal products purchased.

The best way of getting around Moldova is by bus. All the cities have bus stations and Chisinau is the hub for transportation. Small passenger vans are one of the fastest means of transport in the country. Within a city mini-bus makes a good means of transport.
