The main Masjid on the island is the Masjid Raya Sultan, which is also called as the Sulfur Masjid because of its yellow color. The Masjid is located in Tanjung Pinang the main town of the Bintan Island. The Jummah Salaath is conducted around 12:00PM. Halal food is generally available in Bintan.
With beaches and golf being the main attraction, Bintan has many holiday resorts. The Trikora Beach is the most beautiful beach on the island. Some pristine beaches on the island can be found around the area of Sumpat. Bintan is also home to some of the best golf courses in the region.
Travelers can relax at the beaches and enjoy several water sports kayaking, snorkeling, diving, scuba diving, fishing, and swimming. Other popular beaches on the island include Bintan Agro Beach. The Banyan Tree Bintan resort is located on the northeast end of Bintan and around it are villas and private spas.
In Tanjung Pinang travelers can visit the Raja Haji Fisabillah Monument in the downtown area. Among the reminiscent of the Riau sultanate there is the old ruler's palace and royal tombs. There is also a museum in the town located on Katamso Street. Kelong is a stilt house tat fisherman use for breeding or trapping of fish. Enjoy a walk along the dock and take a boat ride around the harbor. Take a longer boat ride and see the island of Penyengat, which is a small historical island.
Kijang is another important town in Bintan and on the western side of the island is another small town Tanjung Uban.
Travelers can enjoy shopping around the Ramayana Mall or Bintan Mall. The Jalan Pelantar II is the main commercial street in Tanjung Pinang.
