Lombok has a number of Masaajid all around the island. The main Masjid on the island is the Selong Great Masjid. The Jummah Salaath sermon is delivered in the local dialect and prayer rooms are available for women.
Lombok also has a number of Halal restaurants serving local and international cuisine. Popular delicacies are ayam taliwang and nasi campur.
The Tanjung A'an is a lovely place close to the Kuta Beach and features sand that looks like pepper. There are beach guards around the area that prevent tourists from getting bugged by, hawkers. South Lambok has a number of lovely beaches for visitors to enjoy.
About 10km east of Mataram is the Narmada Park great to relax and enjoy a serene time. Within Mataram visitors can find the Taman Mayura a water palace built in 1744 and the Museum Negeri Nusa Tenggara Barat that exhibits history, culture and tradition of Lombok. Sukarane is a small village located close to Mataram. Travelers can find a lot of handicraft items in the village. Just a few minutes from Sukarane is the pottery village of Penujak.
Senggigi on the west coast is the main travel destination in Lombok. Enjoy swimming and surfing at the Senggigi Beach and Kerangdangan Beach. Travelers can also plan forest trekking, biking and snorkeling in the area.
Another attraction in Lombok is the Mt. Rinjani, one of the highest volcanos in Indonesia. Visitors can see the Segara Anak crater lake and the Aik Kalak hot springs and also enjoy hiking and mountain climbing under supervision.
Gili Islands in an excellent place to enjoy swimming, diving, surfing and snorkeling. Travelers can also enjoy walking around all the three islands. Relax at the beautiful sandy beaches on these islands.
Situated close to Senaru is the majestic Air Terjun Sindang gila, Air Terjun Tiu Kelep and the Air Terjun Betara Lenjang waterfalls.
There are a number of places where travelers can enjoy shopping in Lombok. In Mataram are the Jalan Pejanggik, Mataram Mall, MGM supermarket and the Cakranegara. Senggigi is good for getting souvenirs, antiques and woodcraft; shop at Senggigi Square and the Senggigi Plaza.

Set in the West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia is the beautiful island of Lombok. The island is separated from Bali by the Lombok Strait in the west and by the Alas Strait from Sumbawa in the east. Lombok is divided into five regions. West Lombok is the administrative center and is known for its beaches. North Lombok is famous for its stunning waterfall and Waktu Telu traditions. Central and East Lombok are home to quiet villages and beaches. South Lombok has unexplored beaches whereas the Gili Islands is a small group of island off the west coast and are well known among divers.
