GEOGRAPHY

Egypt is the world's 30th largest country covering an area of 1,001,449 km2 . Twice the size of Spain, Egypt has coastlines on both the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.

DEMOGRAPHY

A population of close to 80.8 Million. Muslims account for about 90% of the population.

CLIMATE

Mostly it is hot and warm during the day and cool at night. In Summer an average temperature of 30 °C (86 °F) in the coastal regions of the country. Winter temperatures average between 13 °C (55 °F) and 21 °C (70 °F) with rain fall.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN

Arabic is the official language. English and French are widely used as well.

Introduction to Egypt

Inhabited since 3,100 B.C, Egypt is one of the oldest civilisations of the world and a delightful destination to explore. From the Nile Valley, pyramids, historical monuments to the dunes and oasis of the desert and the striking underwater life of the Red Sea and explicit beaches, Egypt has everything to please a traveller.The country is rich in history and lot of exploring to do. Cairo is the best place for travellers to start exploring the country. The Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza are just mesmerising. The pyramids of Saqqara and Dahshur too are excellent to visit. The Old Cairo is located in the southern part of the city and houses several museums.

The Egyptian Museum has some exclusive artefacts for travellers to see.
The city has wonderful parks like Cairo Botanical Gardens, Giza Zoo, Merryland, Dream-Park and Magic Land. The Mohamed Ali Masjid is one of the main masaajid in Cairo. There are a number of souqs in the city where travellers can enjoy shopping. The Citystars is one of the main shopping centres in the city.

The museum has over 100,000 objects and is also associated with the excavation going on in the Fustat Area. The museum was closed for renovation of the building and exhibits and was re-opened for public in September 2010.
