There are a few places where you can find Halal food in Guilin. It is to be noted that many restaurants which assure that they serve Halal food also serve alcohol. There is a Halal restaurant owned by Guilin Islamic Association on the Xicheng Road. There are several other restaurants close to the Ancient Masjid and Chongshan Street Masjid in the city. Local delicacies include rice noodles and various dishes made of mutton, beef and seafood.
Enjoy cruising along the Li River between Guilin and Yangshuo. The Longji Terraced Fields is located in the Heping town in Longsheng about 2 hours from Guilin. These terraces look like ladders and visitors can hike the paths to see the Dragon's Backbone. Situated on the banks of the Li River is the Elephant Trunk Hill. It is a natural arch resembling the trunk of an elephant dipping into the water.
Other scenic attractions in the city include Fubo Hill, Seven Star Park, Yaoshan Hill Park, Jing Jiang Princes City Park and Ocean Aquarium. Rising over the center of Guilin is the Solitary Beauty Peak from where visitors can see fantastic views of the city. There is a carved path that starts at the Ming Dynasty palace in the center of the city leading to the top of the summit.
Travelers can also enjoy boating through the four lakes in the city and Wu Pai River Drifting. Visit the Guilin Shangri-la Park an ethnic theme park that takes visitors through the culture of the area. The Butterfly theme park is located between a pair of mountains. There is a cave in one of the mountains with rock formations and one of them resembles a butterfly. There is a rope connecting the cave to the other mountain. The Guilin Merryland World Resort has entertainment for the entire family.
Visitors can shop jewelry, artworks and souvenirs in Guilin. Some of the places for shopping in the city are Dream Island Department Store, Guilin Department Store, Zhengyang Pedestrian Street, the Guilin Night Market and the Bagui Building.
