Beijing is characterized by the vastness and the ancient culture that it still preserves. For a Muslim traveler to Beijing there are a plethora of sightseeing options that can be explored. Traveling within the city is pretty easy with the convenience of subways, trains and tour buses. So, if you are looking forward to a trip to Beijing, you can expect to enjoy loads of fun with your family. The best time when you can visit the city is between September and October also known as the Golden Autumn. Summers are pretty hot and if you are planning your trip during the winter then you can expect to see some beautiful snowfall.
Halal food is not difficult to find in the city. There are several Halal restaurants where you can enjoy eating meals with your family. The Muslim food in Beijing is a very vital part of the Beijing’s culinary culture. In most of the Halal eateries the food maintains the Middle East Flavor mixed with Chinese flavor for some dishes.
Finding a Masjid in Beijing is not difficult. There are about 80 Masjids alone in Beijing, however the two main Masjids are the Niujie Mosque and Dongsi Mosque. The Niujie Mosque at Ox Street is the largest Masjid in the city and has some ancient relics. The other important Masjids include the Dongsi Mosque and the Huashi Mosque. The city has a lot of exploring to do. To start your tour of Beijing you can visit the Forbidden City, which is also called the Imperial Palace Museum. It is known for its architecture and the Jingshan Park that overlooks the mighty palace. The Tiananmen Square, which is also the heart of the city, is another significant site that you should visit. On the west of the Tiananmen Square is the Great Hall of the People and on the east is the National Museum of China where you can learn more about the history of China.
The Great Wall of China requires an entire day to explore the area; there are cable cars that take you around the eight sections of the ancient relic or you can also choose to walk. Here you can enjoy some marvelous views of nature and also take part in adventure activities like hiking.
A visit to the Summer Palace in the northwest suburb of Beijing is recommended. Here you can have fun boating with the entire family in the Kunming Lake and also marvel at great views of the gardens and the Longevity Hill surrounding the Palace. The Capital Museum is also one of the important sites that you can visit on your trip to Beijing.
Other attractions in Beijing where you can have a great time with your family are the Beijing Zoo, Beijing Aquarium, Jingshan Park, Botanical Garden and the Changpu River Park where you can enjoy with your family. The entire family can take a bird watching tour at the Yeyahu Lake Wetland Natural Reserve and the Beijing Sahe Reservoirs.
Shopping in Beijing has become a lot more convenient lately. There are some fabulous shopping centers and plazas in the city where you can enjoy shopping for some local souvenirs. Some of the areas where you can shop include Wangfujing, Qianmen, Silver Street, the Silk Market and the Sanlitun Market. If you wish to shop for antiques then visit markets in Liulichang, Panjiayuan and the Beijing Curio City.
The Wangfujing Street is one of the most fashionable streets located in central Beijing. The Silk Market is a six-story building, that houses several shops you would love to visit. The Pearl Market is where you can shop for some marvelous accessories. Panjiayuan is the biggest bazaar in Beijing and is known for its antique shops; you can also get some fine antiques at the Liulichang Antique Street too.
Beijing has all the fun, attractions, heritage and shopping that you would love to see and do. All in all Beijing is an excellent place for a Muslim traveler to visit at least once. Just make sure that you have done your homework on where to find Halal food, masaajid and the prayer times etc. so that you could explore Beijing with peace of mind.
