Masjid Sultan Masjid Sultan

Discover an extensive choice of Halal Food in and around the Arab Street in Singapore.

Arab Street is a favourite spot for tourists visiting Singapore. It is one of the few locations in Singapore where the Athan can be heard from a considerable distance from the Masjid. Originally constructed in 1824 by the then Sultan of Johor, Masjid Sultan is one of the oldest mosques in Singapore.

Muslims can enjoy an extensive and varied choice in terms of halal food in and around Arab Street. However, there are also many bars around the area. Look for the MUIS certified Halal sign to be sure that the restaurant only serves Halal food and beverages.

The area includes Halal restaurants serving Arab food, Turkish food and there are even a few popular Malay restaurants such as Kampong Glam. In the evenings, some of the restaurants are generally full of Shisha smoke

Located near the heart of the city, the area is beautifully conserved; the road is lined with preserved shophouses from the early twentieth century. With its pleasant atmosphere, even a simple stroll around the area can be enjoyable. It is only a five minutes walk from the nearest MRT station.

For those driving, they should know that parking can be a little difficult, especially at lunch time, when office workers from the city come for their lunch. Closest covered parking is at Landmark Hotel and Shopping Centre. The building also has a very interesting car lift to the fourth floor car park.

For those interested in shopping, you will find a range of items being sold in these shophouses from carpets to small souvenirs. Arab Street is also famous for its cloth shops, where you can find a large variety of good quality cloth and lace. There are also two book shops selling Islamic books just around the Masjid.
