GEOGRAPHY

Bahrain consists a chain of 33 islands in the Persian Gulf situated in the east of Saudi Arabia. The largest island is the Bahrain island whch accounts for 83% of the country.

DEMOGRAPHY

A population of close to 1.2 Million. Muslims account for about 81.2% of the population.

CLIMATE

Bahrain has extremely hot summer and a relatively mild winter. The average temperature could exceed 40 °C during the months of summer. During winter the temperature range between 10 and 20 °C.

LANGUAGES SPOKEN

Arabic is the official language. English is widely used as well.

Introduction to Bahrain

The Kingdom of Bahrain is an archipelago in the Persian Gulf in Middle East and is bordered by, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Bahrain is the smallest independent state of the Persian Gulf.

Manama is a largest city of Bahrain and also the capital of the country. The Al Fateh Masjid features beautiful architecture and is one of the largest masaajid in the world. On the eastern coast of the city is the beautiful Corniche al Fateh; a lovely seaside promenade offering great views of the skyscrapers in south. The Pearl Monument is a majestic statue in the centre of the roundabout. Travellers should also visit the Museum of Pearl Diving and the Bahrain National Museum. About 30Km from Manama is the Tree of Life standing amidst the desert and surviving without any known source of water.

On the North Coast of the island is the Bahrain Fort the existence of which can be dated to 3,000 BC. The Bahrain Fort Museum and Bin Matar House are also great sites to visit. The Manama souq is excellent to visit; the Marina Mall, Bahrain Mall, Dana Mall, Moda Mall, Seef Mall, Sitra Mall, Rifa Mall, Bahrain City Centre and Al A'Ali Mall are also great to shop.

The Hawar Islands in Bahrain are located close to Qatar and is popular with birdwatchers and divers. The Hawar Islands offers a favourable environment for several endangered species.
