The pearl of the Mediterranean, Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt and spreads over 32km along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is located in north-central Egypt. The city is an important industrial center and in the ancient world was known for its lighthouse (Pharos), library and the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa.

The Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi is the most historic and beautiful Masjid in Alexandria. The Masjid was built in 1775 on the Mosque Square and overlooks the eastern harbor. The Jummah Salaath is held between 12:15PM and 1:15PM. The sermon is delivered in Arabic and the Masaajid provide prayer facilities for women.

Alexandria is well known for its seafood restaurants. Travelers can enjoy tradition Egyptian, Syrian, Arabic and Lebanese delicacies in the city. Alexandria has a number of Halal restaurants and travelers can dine with ease.

Alexandria has a number of historical monuments that travelers can visit. The Citadel of Qaitbay was built in 1477 and since has been constructed twice, it overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The lighthouse is close to the fort. Other historic sites include the Cemetery of Mostafa Kamel, Kom el-Shouqafa, Pompey's Pillar, Roman Theatre, Montazah Palace, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Ras el-Tin Palace and the Presidential Palace. The Anfoushi Quarter is situated between the Qaitbay Fort and the Ras el-Tin Palace. The Alexandria Library opened in 2002 is worth a visit.

Travelers can also visit museums in the city such as Alexandria National Museum, which houses more than 1800 archaeological pieces, Graeco-Roman Museum is a history museum, Museum of Fine Arts, National Institute For Oceanography & Fisheries featuring aquarium displays and the Royal Jewelry Museum, which has a lot of precious jewels.

The Alexandria Corniche is a beautiful 15km walkway and has several restaurants, historic sites and markets. At the end of the corniche is the Qaitbay Fort. The Montazah Royal Gardens is a part of the Muntazah Palace and spreads over 350 acres. Travelers can also enjoy a variety of water sports at Montazah and take a boat ride to the Ras el-Tin. There are also a number of beaches around the Corniche and also along the east and west coast.

There are a number of shopping malls in Alexandria like Carrefour City Center, Mirage Mall, Deeb Mall, Green Plaza, Kirosez Mall, Mina Mall, Maamoura Plaza Mall, San Stefano Grand Plaza Mall, Wataniyya Mall, Zahran Mall and the Family Mall.
