The region of Angkor served as the centre for the Khmer Empire that thrived between the 9th and the 15th centuries

Today the Ruins of Angkor are located close to the city of Siem Reap and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are over a thousand temples in the Angkor area ranging from small piles of bricks to the splendid Angkor Wat. The Angkor Wat is considered as the largest single religious monument in the world.

A number of temples in the Angkor area have been restored and are the most significant examples of Khmer architecture. Check out the amazing architecture of the Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat was built in the 12th century and is one of the best preserved temples from the era.The Angkor Thom is another massive temple in the area. Other worth seeing temples includes the Ta Prohm temple, the Bayon temple and the Banteay Srei. Each of these temples has their unique feature and architecture that is good to see.

You can reach the Ruins of Angkor easily from Siem Reap via taxis, buses or hired cars. Every year the Ruins of Angkor are visited by thousands of travellers from all around the world.
