Named after the Detroit industrialist Charles Lang Freer, the Freer Gallery of Art has an international collection of Asian art and the largest collection of the artist, James McNeill Whistler

The work of Whistler was quite influenced by Chinese ceramics and Japanese prints. Freer's interest in Asian art developed with his friendship with Whistler. In the year 1906, Freer donated about 7,500 paintings, sculptures and drawings to the Smithsonian and today the collection has grown to around 25,000 artifacts representing almost 6,000 years of exclusive art work.

One of the high-altitude railways in the world, the Qingzang Railway connects Lhasa, Tibet with Golmud in Qinghai.

The Qingzang Railway runs through a series of mountains and beautiful lakes. Inaugurated in the year 2006, the train travels a total distance of 1,957 km. The first 815 km between Xining to Golmud was opened in 1984, however the 1,142 kilometers section from Golmud to Lhasa was built after the economic growth of China. For most of its track, the rail line travels at an altitude of 4000 meters above the sea level.

Truly, a ride of a lifetime, the TranzAlpineTrain is the most scenic train ride in New Zealand

Operated by, Tranz Scenic, the train travels once daily between Christchurch, Arthur's Pass and Greymouth on the west coast of South Island. The train passes through breathtaking scenes of misty mountains of the Southern Alps. The train takes about 4½ hours to traverse a one-way distance and covers 223 Km. Through the journey it crosses 19 tunnels and four bridges; the Staircase Viaduct is 73 meters high.
