The city of Chiba aims to earn the title of being the Muslim-friendly centre of Japan and hopes to attract more Muslim travellers in the future. Local businesses in a range of fields and sectors are being encouraged by the municipal government to become more Muslim-friendly and are being told to implement steps that enable them to better serve Muslim travellers. 

Chiba is presently a popular tourist destination and sees a growing number of Southeast Asian travellers to the city.
