Home to picturesque waterways and mesmerizing architecture, Bruges is one of the loveliest cities in Belgium.

Located in the Northern region of Flanders in Belgium, the city is often nicknamed as the "Venice of the North." The impressive Old Town, a World Heritage Site, is a masterpiece worth seeing.

There is a small prayer room in the city. It is better to ask with the locals about the location of the prayer room. Finding halal restaurants in the city can be a bit difficult. There are a few vegetarian restaurants in the city where you can dine.

Bruges is home to some of the most beautiful museums in Belgium. The Groeninge Museum is the Museum of Fine Arts and houses a wonderful collection of artwork. The Friet Museum is one of its kinds in the world. Visit the Choco Story Museum that takes you to the time when chocolate was originally manufactured. The Belfry Museum is a must-visit for anyone who visits Bruges. There is also a Hospital Museum is the city. The Diamant Museum or the Diamond Museum has a range of exhibits that detail the story of diamonds from mining till the stage of polishing.

Bruges is all about beautiful architecture and wonderful houses. The Old Town area is especially worth walking around. The Gruuthuse is a palatial house owned by the wealthy Gruuthuse family; the house in now home to a museum. Climb the Grote Markt which is an 83 meter high tower to enjoy great views of the city. Visitors can also take a tour boat in the canals of the city. The boat tour takes visitors to some of the best sights of the city that are usually not easily accessible. You can also enjoy a hot air balloon ride above the city.

Bruges has a variety of designer boutiques and chocolate stores. There are also a number of art shops in the city where you can get some good deals on paintings made by local artists. The main shopping area of Bruges is between the Z and and Markt Square. You can find a number of retail shops around Steenstraat, Geld Montstraat and Jakobstraat.

Bruges has a good bus system for transportation. The Old Town area of the city is small and much of it can be accessed on foot. Taxis are also a preferred means of transportation in the city. If you are an adventurous traveller then hiring a bicycle is also a great choice.
