Haroon Masjid in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand

The Haroon Masjid is one of the oldest masaajid in the city of Bangkok and is named after Haroon Bafadel, the father of Muhammad Yusuf Bafadel, who initiated the construction of the Mosque. Haroon Bafadel's father was an Indonesian-Arab who settled down in that area.

Initially the masjid was built of wood in Java style blended with Ayuthaya arts. The existence of the masjid can be dated to the 19th century and was later made of brick and lime in 1934. To date the masjid has beautiful wooden decorative art and lovely carvings and the prayer hall has inscriptions from the Holy Quran. The wooden carvings are much appreciable. The prayer hall has the capacity of accommodating over 500 worshippers at a time.
