A stunning place for those who love sun, sand and lots of fun; Gold Coast is a great place to visit. Located in Queensland it is one of the main tourist destinations of the country. The city runs along one of the finest coasts of Australia and visitors as well as residents enjoy the favorable climate suitable for exciting outdoor activities.

The presence of Muslims in Gold Coast can be dated back to 1930's, when the first Muslim family settled in the city. Over the years the population of Muslims in Gold Coast has increased and there are few Masaajid in the city. The Islamic Society of the Gold Coast was established in 1983. The main Masjid in the city is the Gold Coast Masjid located in the suburban area of Arundel. The Jummah Salaath begins around 1:00PM. There are prayer facilities for females too.

Gold Coast boasts of over 30 beaches sprawling over 40km. All the beaches are under protection of lifeguards and are lined with flags to demarcate the safest parts of the beach. Some of the beaches include the Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads and North Burleigh. Visitors can also enjoy swimming or relaxing around the Tallebudgeera Creek, Currumbin, Greenmount Beach and Rainbow Bay. The Snapper Rocks is excellent to enjoy surfing.

The Q1 building is one of the most important landmarks of the city and the second highest public standpoint in the southern hemisphere. The building has an observation deck on the 77th floor, which is one of its kinds in Queensland.

Gold Coast Hinterland houses three national parks and is frequently visited by travelers. There are several mountain creeks, waterfalls and natural rock formations that you visitors can see. Travelers can take a car or a bus tour along the winding roads where they can see several points of interest including Springbrook, Numinbah Valley, Currumbin Valley and the cottage industry town of Tamborine Mountain.

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is well known for large flocks of rainbow lorikeets. Visitors can enjoy hiking the Burleigh Mountain about half an hour from Surfers Paradise.

Theme parks make the most visited attractions of Gold Coast. Some of these parks include Sea World, Dreamworld, Wet'n'Wild, Warner Bros. Movie World, WhiteWater World and Australian Outback Spectacular.

Travelers can find some excellent deals on souvenirs around the Cavill Mall. The Surfers Paradise is also filled with a number of shopping centers including the Centro Shopping Plaza and Chevron Renaissance. Other places where travelers can shop are Carrara Market, Harbourtown, Pacific Fair, Q Super Centre, Australia Fair and Robina Town Center.

Travelers are advised to stay away from Broadbeach Mall in Broadbeach, Cavill Ave and Orchid Ave in Surfers Paradise and Griffith St in Coolangatta at late nights because of several incidents.
