Bariloche is often referred to as the Gateway to Patagonia. Situated in the Rio Negro Province, Bariloche is placed in the foothills of Andes and is surrounded by beautiful lakes and gigantic mountains. The city is one of the best skiing destinations in Argentina and is also famed for its exclusive sights. The major attractions of the city are its chocolate boutiques and European ambiance.

The Muslim population in Bariloche is quite small; there are no reported Masaajid in the city. Also finding halal food can be daunting. However, Bariloche offers a variety of vegetarian restaurant options that you can relish on while you are in the city. You can also find a range of cuisines in the city and choose one that will suit your taste. When visiting a restaurant in Bariloche, specify the type of food that you would like to have in advance.

Bariloche is popular for the Museum of Patagonia. The museum covers the history of the pre-Hispanic inhabitants of the region and also has several native wildlife pictures. Check out the medieval buildings that are places in the civic centre of Bariloche. The city centre complex has a beautiful square and a clock tower. If you are visiting Bariloche during the summer months, you can have some fun filled time around the lake side beaches.

Winters in Bariloche are equally attractive and action packed. From June to September you can enjoy exclusive skiing opportunities. Bariloche serves as the best place to ski on South America. The main mountain Cerro Catedral is about 18 km from the city. The ski resort in the area is filled with people from all around the world during the winter months.

Bariloche is the focal point of the Lake District of Patagonia and is a wonderful base to explore the surrounding attractions such as the Nahuel Huapi National Park, Llao Llao Peninsula and you can also take a Lake Crossing Excursion to Chile. You can also explore the Circuito Chico, well-known visitor circuits.

There are numerous shops along the main street of Bariloche where you can find almost anything, especially along the Bartolome Mitre. The local handicrafts made of wool are quite a buy. The city is known across for its delicious chocolates. Spend time tasting chocolates at one of the shops in the city. The largest shopping centre in Bariloche is called as Shopping Patagonia. From clothing to footwear and appliances, you can find several things in this shopping centre.

Bariloche offers excellent public transport service. There are several bus routes that operate in the city. You can also choose to take a car rental or a taxi. The city has numerous car rental agencies, however the prices might vary.
