Apart from Port of Spain there are several other attractions that travelers can visit. The Aripo caves, which is a large cave system featuring stunning stalactites and stalagmites is a lovely place to visit. Close to it is Aripo Savannah, a scientific reserve near Sangre Grande. The Arena Dam is also worth a visit. Nature lovers can visit the Asa Wright Nature Center and take a tour of the area to spot birds and other wildlife.
The Palmiste National Park near San Fernando has some lovely nature trails and picnic shelters where visitors can enjoy themselves with their families. Devil's Woodyard is an exciting place to visit; it has live bubbling mud volcanoes. Travelers would love the marvelous scenes of the Diego Martin Valley, which is famous for the Blue Basin waterfalls. The Gasparee Caves located off the shores of Trinidad have ruins of colonial ramparts and caves. Travelers interested in bird watching can visit the Hollis Reservoir at the foothills of the Northern Range Mountain. Situated north of St. Joseph in the Northern Range is the picturesque Maracas Waterfall. Visitors can enjoy fantastic views of the Maracas Bay and Balata Bay from the Maracas Lookout. Pitch Lake is an interesting place to visit; it is natural churning asphalt where visitors can walk on the asphalt.
Trinidad has a number of forts that travelers would love to visit. Some of these include Fort Abercromby, Fort George and the Galera Poin, which is the oldest lighthouse in Trinidad. Other attractions include Mount St. Benedict, Nariva Swamp, Navet Reservoir and Point Galeota. None of these attractions are very far from Masaajid or Halal restaurant. Visitors in and around Port of Spain can find several Masaajid in Port of Spain and San Juan and San Fernando.
