GEOGRAPHY

Oman is an Arab state which borders the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf between Yemen and United Arab Emirates. Oman covers a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometers and most of them are Valleys and Deserts.

DEMOGRAPHY

A population of close to 3.6 Million. Muslims account for about 67% of the population.

CLIMATE

Hot and dry. In summer the temperature could reach 54 °C while in winter the temperature range between 18 °C and 26 °C.

Arabic is the official language. English is widely used as well.

Introduction to Oman

Oman is officially called as the Sultanate of Oman and is located on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The area of Oman has been inhabited since the Stone Age, about 5,000 years ago.

Oman has a varied geography including vast deserts, beaches, wadis and mountain peaks. Oman possesses a coastline of 1700Km and has some of the cleanest beaches in the region. Throughout the country there are several castles and forts representing the rich culture of Oman.

Muscat is the capital and the largest city of Oman and is made up of three small towns that have grown together into a city. The Al Jalali Fort and the All Mirani Fort are placed on the Qasr Al Alam Street. The Corniche Area has been renovated and is excellent for travelers to take a walk. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Masjid is among the largest masaajid in the world. The Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace is located at the head of a deep natural harbour and is the office of the ruler of Oman.
